Narrative essay Choose a topic that enables you to tell a short, interesting personal story. Your story can be funny, suspenseful, meaningful, or exciting, but it must focus on one event. For example, if you decide to write about traveling to Denmark, you should not write about the entire trip. Choose one event — for example, an afternoon you spent bicycling on an island, or your first taste of smoked herring, or visiting the childhood home of Hans Christian Anderson — and tell a detailed story that focuses on that event. Following are some ideas that can help you to select a topic for your story: Firsts — Think of a “first” in your life and describe that moment in detail. Proud Moment — Choose a moment when you felt proud about an accomplishment. Adversity — Describe a time when you had to think or act quickly to overcome a challenge. Traveling — Recall a memorable experience you had while traveling.

Response to 2 questions below 1. The attribute of competitive advantage allows a company to outperform its competitors. The company is therefore said to have achieved superior margins and gain the power to work independently with minimum competition. Competitive advantage can be on products, services, companies entirely, management, or even on the resource accessories. However, a competitive advantage should be difficult, if not possible, to duplicate. For those easily copied are not considered as a competitive advantage. How Legally Required Benefits Relate to Company’s Competitive Advantage? Common statutory benefits include unemployment insurance, employee compensation insurance, family and, medical leave insurance. The relationship between competitive advantage and legally required benefits is that a company offering statutory benefits may have employees who follow established procedures and realize that they may lose their job. Employees working in a company that provides job security like the workers’ compensation insurance are likely to work competently and carefully to ensure that they are contained in the job. Therefore, the company will have to gain a competitive advantage over other companies due to the competence of the employees. Employees shall remain focused on their job security and secure the company. The Most Impactful Benefit Worker’s compensation insurance is the most effective benefit. This benefit protects employees from financial matters, especially when it comes to employees or employees who suffer from injury or illness at work. Such an advantage helps employees obey the business because they feel safe and secure while working in the company. To conclude, legally required benefits are of significance to any business to enhance the competitive advantage. The legally needed benefits are related to the competitive edge in that they motivate employees to work competently and effectively. The most effective and essential required benefit is workmen’s compensation insurance. Companies should, therefore, adopt to have workmen’s compensation insurance for their employees. “ you are correct in your example of some of the legally required benefits such as unemployment insurance. However, I’m a little confused about your thoughts behind how those legally required benefits relate to competitive advantage. If these benefits are required by all companies of a certain size and geography, how does providing what you are required to provide create a competitive advantage? It may very well be true, please elaborate your thoughts. .Also why do you think having workers comp insurance will motivate employees to work more cautiously and competently? 2. What are some of the choices an employer may make to help control health care cost. It seems like employers are constantly seeking to reduce their health care spending. Some ways employers can reduce the costs are by considering a number of benefit design strategies other than just shifting costs to employees through high-deductible health plans. Organizations can offer health reimbursement arrangement (HRA). HRA is an IRS-approved, employer-funded, tax-advantaged health benefit used to reimburse employees for out-of-pocket medical expenses and personal health insurance premiums. One thing to note, HRA is not health insurance. Another way is to motivate employees away from negative behavior which is to reward them for proper behavior. Ideas such as paying part of the employee’s premium for maintaining a healthy BMI or keeping blood pressure under control. Programs which provide free health club memberships or gifts like iPods or pedometers to employees who are active have also become popular. The only concern is that employers must make the standards for the incentives reasonably achievable and easily engaged (Wyman 2012). Health and wellness initiatives have become another popular health care cost management strategy, and remain one of employers’ top cost containment strategies. As more and more employers are realizing that improving employee health and wellness can effectively lower health care costs and increase productivity, many are creating more comprehensive programs, targeting specific diseases and including dependents in the initiatives. Employers could also use health care data to make strategic health plan decisions as their top cost cutting strategy. Employers are also finding huge cost-saving opportunities by changing the way they manage dependents. Studies show that, on average, 5 to 15 percent of dependents are actually not eligible to be on the health plan. Many companies are also shifting to a per-member premium structure, rather than just “individual” and “family.” Employers are requiring spouses to pay more in premiums or assessing a surcharge to encourage spouses to enroll in their own employers’ plans.
